or one-shot of whatever. i got the idea from David Hobby's post and Greg Heisler's approach to the Shoot-out in the Desert.
Take a portrait (or some themed challenge) where you are only allowed to take a single shot. not best of 100 shots but enter the only shot taken at a particular shooting session. It would be quite a challenge indeed but this is were preparation or patience or luck would be judged.
I've been trying to figure out how to verify a valid entry and the only idea i have right now is to submit three consecutive shots when entering, the 2nd being the entry photo and the 1st and 3rd unrelated photos will help verify the entry. you would have to have a gap in time, as proven by the exif data, of say 8 hrs or so, between the 1st and 2nd shot and then a similar gap between the 2nd and 3rd. this would prove the 2d was the only shot taken at that particular session. |

The only problem with that is, those who have access to multiple camera bodies can work around that form of "validation" with no effort whatsoever. It's an interesting challenge concept but you'd have to take people on faith.

And we all have seen in the past with the "so many footsteps from your front door" challenge that people can't be trusted when they "think" they might win a virtual ribbon. Sadly it's true.
Edit to add challenge referenced. 47 steps.

I guess you're right. but anyone could cheat on every challenge i suppose.
i was just reading the hilarious thread about the closed-eye challenge and realized that this would be almost it's exact opposite. |
