The pages and menues linked to in the blue navigational bar below the DPChallenge header
"My Home, Challenges, Community, League, Photos" etc.
have entirely vanished from the bar.
Instead, the Safari status bar at bottom of page reports: "Building Menu" without doing what it promises..
I emptied the bowser cache, restarted, changed the user agent (under the Developer menu) and crossed my fingers without effect.
Software and OS are up-to-date; disk is error-free; permissions repaired.
Does anyone else experience this or a similar issue?
Any ideas, fixes, suggestions?
(Firefox and Google Chrome (also current) do not suffer this issue and behave properly).

What do you have ticked in the Security tab of 'preferences'? |

.. All except 'Block Pop-Up Windows'. |

I know you cleared your cache but have you tried cmd refresh to force a reload of the page? |

Refresh, yes, to no effect.
Cmd-Refresh (Cmd +the Refresh symbol in the URL bar?) does not reload the page or alter anything in the Status bar.
(Thanks for the replies, btw) |

OK - try shift + refresh symbol on the URL bar... |

Just to check on your Safari build. Is it the same as mine? Version 5.1.4 (7534.54.16)
I am using same OS and Safari version. Not having that symptom. But, there was a very recent (last few days) updatet to Safari.
I did experience some problems with spell check and grammar check and auto complete doing wierd things (slowdown). Had to shut those off. And, had to reset Safari AND a shut down of computer (more than a restart) with 15 minutes of shut down time before restarting.
You might have a bad build of Safari. |

Thanks, Richard.
The build is the same as yours: 7534.54.16.
I reset again, shut down and re-started, to no effect.
I reinstalled Safari, too: no change. |

I should make clear that Safari displays other sites and pages accurately.
The issue appears to be confined to DPChallenge. |

In the same way that your web browser has a cache of recent web pages, your Internet Service Provider (ISP) may be doing some caching on your behalf.
In some (rare) cases, even though you are using shift-refresh to get new data from a webpage, the pages still seem to be old. This may be because your Internet Service Provider also has a cache and their cache may not be set up quite right, and they are not downloading the latest web pages.
When you encounter this problem you will have to communicatie with your ISP to fix this problem.
Or you could switch to OpenDNS or GoogleDNS. |

Ah, yes, but I already use OpenDNS. |

Create another account on your Mac and login from there. If it works, then you know the problem is within your account prefs rather than the ISP or system configuration. |

I deleted various Safari preference files and relaunched Safari, to no effect.
Logged out of my Admin account into another account I had set up for troubleshooting (such as this, I suppose) and this resolved the issue within that account.
Restarted, and behold, all is well on all accounts!
And now I owe you a Tuborg. :)

Great news! Also solved the minor issues I was having with spell & grammar auto check/correct. Much better now. |
