Asus has always been reliable although my A8N32-SLI burned up after only 14 mos - fully replaced under warrantee though. I had been particularly concerned about the RAID settings but as it turned out they were saved on the mirrored boot drives; so simply reconnected and started up normally.
About PS, I had to buy CS5 because Adobe wouldn't support D7000 in CS4 ACR. So probably CS6 and will not compromise on GPU or RAM this time around. |
I'm seriously considering upgrading my GPU. When I upgraded my system last July, I went with an i7-2600K processor, an X58-based motherboard (Sandy Bridge) and I carried over my GPU which was an nVidia Quadro FX 570. I'm looking at going to a 600, or possibly the 2000D.

Here's hoping you get great weather! I think I would have had the store Fed-Ex the grip down :-)
Are you planning on coming down for AirVenture this year?

Yes, I will be at Oshkosh again this year. I will drive my motorhome in for the week.
Since I am from Canada, the idea of shipping the grip over the border and dealing with all of the border related issues made it prohibitive.

Just picked up my battery pack today. Makes it a big beast. Bigger than my D2X. But the feeling when the camera used vertically is much better. Not sure when held horizontally as the base seems to stick out more. Probably doesn't but it looks more like a shelf rather than a gradual slope integrating into the body. OK on my 70-300 zoom, but feels awkward on my smaller lenses. I'll cope. |

A friend of mine was # 8 on the wait list for the D800, he just received the battery grip in the last day or so, but not the camera!! B & H said 22nd March was delivery date, and now it's been bumped until possibly end of May, yet others have been able to walk in certain camera stores and pick up one, such as 'Talls Cameral' store!!

I'm sure there is some truth to be pulled out of these numbers, but some of them just don't make any sense.
I had them compare the three canon 50mm lenses (f/1.2 L, f/1.4 USM, and f/1.8 II). According to their stats the $100 f/1.8 II has the best image quality. |

Fitz, sounds good to me. I expect to arrive a day or two in advance of the show so I can secure a preferred campsite with electricity. I will not likely stay the whole week, last year I was there Saturday to Thursday, this year likely Friday to Thursday.

OK so having a very difficult time focusing my D800E outside with the kids riding scooters and bikes, but in the Studio I can move it around follow shoot multiple points on my subject and get tack sharp images. Any suggestions for getting tack sharp with moving objects outside? |

We need a little more help. What settings are you using?
For kids on scooters, I'd use AF-C, then I'd try 9 point, 21 point, 51 point, auto area, and 3d, and see which works the best. I use 3d at the dog park, but you might do better with 21 point of auto area.
The other thing is that you might want to install the firmware update that Nikon announced this week. Apparently there are some autofocus improvements there.
