I have an Olympus C-8080, and I need to buy at least a UV filter and a polarizing filter for it. I have no clue how to even begin finding these filters-- how do I know if they fit my camera? Or are they universal? And what brands are good? If anyone can lend me any advice, I'd be most appreciative.

I feel like this is probably an elementary question and I should know the answer... but I'm self-taught in all aspects thus far, and I just can't figure this question out.

Thanks to all of you in advance for help!

It looks like you need an adapter tube like mine does. The adapter tube will tell what size filter you need. Mine was 41mm(Camera) - 53mm (filter)

You will also need to make sure you get a circular polarized filter for you digital , not a linear for a film camera

The 8080 does NOT need an accessory tube for filters, just buy 58mm filters and screw them on to the front of the lens. Make sure that the polarizer you get is the circular type, the linear type will interfere with the AF system. I like the Hoya multicoated filters, they aren't the cheapest, nor the priciest, but they give good performance for the $$$

My Dad has the c-8080 and he really likes it.
