Without a title, it's an automatic DNMC as most people would never see the connection between mushroom clouds and Dr. Suess. With a title, the connection is obvious.

Apparently NOT obvious as indicated by it's finish and many of the comments. ;-)

The finish was entirely expected, and getting a couple of comments like these are more valuable than the ribbons at the other end of the scale ...

Fascinating. You often come up with interesting takes on the challenge. Thanks for teaching me something about Geisel! I went home and told my wife, who also didn't know that about him. Between this and JuliBoc's entry, I've learned a lot.

From the notes on the photo:

In addition (actually, prior) to writing children's books, Theodor Geisel (a.k.a. Dr. Seuss) was a political cartoonist, and worked with the likes of Frank Capra making propaganda films during World War II. In 1947, he helped make the Academy Award-winning documentary "Design For Death" about post-war Japan.

I do try and put some thought into the title of my entries. Most of the time I already have the title in mind when taking the shot. It helps me to compose the shot knowing what it is I̢۪m trying to convey. This image, for example, would be worthless in my opinion without the title as it̢۪s not a great or interesting shot but was fun because of what I saw when taking it.

That being said there are many times when I just can't think of a title so I'm boring and just state what it is and hope the photo is strong enough to convey what it is.

I hear ya, Paul - good points. My only point was in regards to the statement that the title made the connection "obvious"
