I'm the proud owner of a brand new bouncing baby netbook! Cute little thing. Has 4M of memory and a 500G harddrive. It is for travel, and like most of you, I carry the camera when I travel, so the netbook is for viewing, culling, and maybe a little editing. I was thinking of putting Photoshop Elements on it rather than full Photoshop, but will that work with Nik Silver Efex?
Has anyone tried Snapseed for Windows? I hear it's out. Would that be a good addition? |

Yes, it should work with Silver Efex. I don't have Silver Efex on my own netbook however. (Does the license for it allow installation on a secondary computer?) I do have Topaz BW effects installed.
I would install Canon DPP on it. It's fairly fast for viewing and rating your pics, even on a netbook, and I'm sure yours is faster than mine.
I'm considering getting a low end dual core laptop soon, as a step up from the netbook when traveling. Reviewing and sorting on the netbook is very doable, but editing is agonizingly slow, even using an older version of PaintShop Pro.

| Wonder where I can get Canon DPP? I should have a disk somewhere, I know. Should probably check to see if Elements can read RAW, huh? |

You should have an EOS Solutions disk that came with your camera. The one that you can download from Canon can only be installed as an upgrade. There are hacks to make it install as a new installation however.

You are assuming I'd know where the disk is that came with my camera. Ha!!
And yes, you can have two installs of Nik software - currently do. I'll have to uninstall off the old laptop. |
