I have a Nikon D300... recently, when i shoot in Manual, its taking pictures that are underexposed no matter what shutter speed i use? I always shoot in Manual and never have any problems. I haven't dropped it or bumped it or anything. I even tried upping my ISO to 1600 just to see if that would help... it didn't. When I put the camera In Auto mode.. the picture is fine. Any ideas whats wrong?

Canon user here sorry but I can underexpose on my 1D and 20D at the turn of a wheel, sure you haven't knocked a setting somewhere?

yeah i shot again to make sure i didn't accidently turn a wheel... then I checked my exposure compensation to make sure I didn't change that and forgot to put it back... it was fine

Tried changing your metering modes to see if it's doing it in all modes? Though if it's OK in auto then I'm guessing metering is fine.

What's happening if you try and overexpose, is it still coming out under?

The D300 does have an exposure auto-adjust mode. In this mode, changes can be dictated by the command wheel, but they shouldn't effect manual. You haven't placed it in a bracketing mode? Have you tried a setting reset?

How about doing a reset of your camera settings? I had issues I couldn't figure out and did that and it fixed the issue, but then I had to re-learn a bunch of stuff I had set. Still worth it though.
