I just got a comment saying that my photo didn't meet the challenge, which it absolutely meets. The subject(s) are miniature versions of larger thing(s), there is a clear and relevant point of reference, no possible interpretation of the challenge could lead a normal person to the conclusion that it didn't fit.
WTH???

would it be out of line for you to pm the commenter and have an off-line discussion so that you both might learn from your interaction? |

I have PMed them but many people here don't respond to PMs, for whatever reason. Maybe this should move to the rant folder.

Or you could find out where the person lives and go round and beat the living daylights out of them.
Or better still just forget about it. It`s only for fun. |

Alot of people don't respond to PM's during the challenge. If you still want to know why they thought it didn't meet the challenge, PM them again after the challenge.

If it's any help, I have a very similar situation. It's not worth the bother (for either of you) to try and straighten it out now ... the one vote won't make a significant difference in the score anyway. |

keep in mind, pm <> im. if you just got the comment and just pm'd them, they might not be looking at their email...give them time.
on the other hand, so what? this is the double-edged sword of a democratic peer review. i'd rather have 10-15 idiotic comments than 2-3 nice ones; at least i'd know i had an image that is resonating with the crowd rather than one that is so average that it isn't worth commenting on... |

As I've noted in several places, this challenge was open to more than one interpretation. Some people form their own notion (rational or otherwise) of what meets the challenge, and won't accept anything outside of that narrow view. I've got 3-1/2 comments that say my entry doesn't meet the challenge, but a 6.6569 average score suggests otherwise. ;-p
Don't let a few closed minds get to you. You're not likely to open them anyway. |
