I'd love to get feedback on this photo. Just a reminder, this is an unedited photo.
I have really thick skin, so you probably can't offend. Feel free to lay down whatever your first reaction is to the photo.
A thanks in advance for any/all critiques.

The first word that comes to mind is "interesting", but then again, I use that word a lot. After further study of the photograph, I almost feel like I would like to see a little sharper detail... but then, the softness gives an ambiance that shouldn't be altered. A tighter crop might do it a little more justice, or even a slight tilt-angle.

Do you think you could sell this photo? |

Was an instant hit with me but I don't know why. I probably would have thought it was a peach rather than an apple but that could be my colour blindness confusing me. I like the simplicity of it. I do find something about the bottom left edge distracting. An interesting photo - thanks for sharing.
It reminded me of my egg on wood photo which did very badly in a challenge haha

I want to revisit this idea, maybe using a mirror or a lighter wood surface. Everyone on 1x has mentioned tighter crops, and that's what I'll probably do in the future. Now that I have an SU-800, these types of images will be much easier to produce.

You mean this image was accepted on 1x?
PS If that's the case you will be wasting your time at DPC.

We could pick it apart technically (yellow cast, blur, too dark, pov), but the sum of its flaws is kinda cool! |

This sounds like what my wife probably said to herself when she met me. :) |

I would be astounded if this had been accepted on 1x.
Anyway for what its worth to be honest I find it very uninteresting really if it where in a challenge I would score it below 5.
Agree that a crop or angle may help but not sure. |

That is a very strange comment? |

A lot of artistic photos don't do well at DPC. |

Originally posted by deeby: My personal preference is for conceptual art. This photo is fairly surrealistic I think...a glowing apple (?) on a shiny black surface...looks nice enough. But I don't really know what you're on about beyond that. Should it glow? I don't care, actually... to each their own. A more interesting question is "Is it glowing?"
I'm glad you made some money on it though! |
I like the reversal of the question better. Thanks for that.
