Sue Rodriguez took this issue before the Supreme Court of Canada 20 years ago. She lost in a 5-4 ruling but died with dignity, aided by an unnamed physician.
Her story and the court's decision and reasoning are very informative and thought-provoking reading.

I remember that case very well, as well as the more recent Latimer case and wonder what the decision would be today, particularly if the medical field had to implement some of the safeguards currently in existence in other countries.
