I just had an image DQ'd in one of the current challenges. Voting is still ongoing but I realy don't get why it violated the rules. Is it acceptable to post it and tell you what I did to the image so someone can explain what I did wrong? I just don't see it. Not griping, I just need the feedback to make sure I don't do it again.
Thanks
dr

You should wait the end of the challenge.

Yup. Wait till the end, otherwise you will be violating a forum rule. The rules can be sorta difficult to understand at times, so don't feel bad about it. Most users get one at some point or another, and I'm of the opinion that it's totally accidental/a misunderstanding for most.

That sucks. I'm sorry. You should probably wait... or Pm someone if they offer. I would have a look, but I'm not completely familiar with every rule and every tool that is legal/illegal

If you want to PM me with the image I will take a look I have had my fair share of validations so I'm pretty familiar with most of the rules.

In answer to your question, the image was DQd due to your creating a new shape (or 'feature' or 'object') by the use of partial colouring, which isn't permitted. I can't be more specific here during voting, but feel free to PM me (or contact the SC) if you need more explanation than that.

I had my first DQ experience a few weeks back.

So let me share with you my thoughts; accept it, something went wrong. These guys are doing a fantastic job and deserve credit for it. They will tell you at the end what went wrong.
In my case I also questioned them, obviously, I did. I have been here since 2004 and never been DQ'ed. I know the rules. In my case I did not know the technology; I used a preset that somehow added vignette which is illegal in basic editing. Whilst prepping the image for entry I missed the added effect and assumed it was my 'genius' that is at last waking up. Alas, egg on my face, shame on me and a red line on my clean slate. But they were right. Wait for them to tell you. And then, if you can not change anything, do as I and many others have done; grin and bear/bare with it.

Yep, chalk it up to experience, and don't let it bug you too much.
On the bright side, the DQ image will probably get a lot of "views" for your profile page counter.

Thanks again al. I think I got the violation.
No sour grapes, I just really didnt' get it. I think I do now and I am good with that. I think the rule is a little ambiguous but I understand now. It wasnt' that great of an image in any case :)
Better now than on a high scorer XD

BOO YA! IN YO FACE!

Have we mentioned that there is no official statute of limitations on requesting originals for validations ...? ;-)
