Could be true. I wouldn't rule that out. Also, the minimization of short run vision risk by eye doctors may be long term self serving.
Reminds me of the Marlboro Man era. I have many friends who smoked at age 24 who are no longer with us. I can remember (like it was yesterday), a high school friend (now deceased) who told me he was assuming no health risk from chain smoking. After all, he said, "My doctor smokes!".
Okay, I am not going to preach to anyone about anything. But, everyone should be aware of the potential damage from CVS. If you view a computer monitor less than 2 hours a day, then no problem. My vision is valuable to me. |

NOT LIKELY! I am on the computer for school at least 2 hours a day. On the computer for DPC for a minimum of 2 hours a day. Plus the regular surfing I do... I'm on at a MINIMUM of 6 hours a day. When I WAS working in an office, I would be on a computer 10-14 hours a day.
Nice for my eyesight (and my headaches) huh?

Haven't detected your mortality yet, eh? You don't appreciate what you have, until you lose it.

I'm 24. I'm not saying "there may or may not be a link so I'll keep looking at monitors in dark rooms", I'm saying studies have been done and they have been unable to find a link between this and long term vision deterioration. I obviously care about my health, but only to the degree I find reasonable. If I lived my life with speculation of health risks (with no citable, credible sources but with evidence to the contrary) having a great bearing on it I wouldn't carry or ever use a mobile phone either, I wouldn't watch tv, I'd live in an area unable to receive radio waves etc.
I have several friends who are optometrists, I trust them more than rumours perpetuated exclusively by (from what I've seen) those untrained/uneductaed in the field. |

Yikes! I guess you told me. Good luck. |
