A euphemism is the substitution of a mild, inoffensive, relatively uncontroversial phrase, for a frank expression that might offend or otherwise suggest something unpleasant to the audience.
Some euphemisms are intended to amuse, while others are created to mislead or at least put a positive spin on events. Euphemisms can also be used in the place of words considered profane.
(from wikipedia)
should be fun given the international crowd here. |

From the tv show Cheers:
Frazier: I'm going to the little boys room
Lillith: Why does a grown man feel the need to euphamize?
Woody: Well he did drink that beer awfully fast. |

"Buttering the lobster"
"Putting up the dry wall"
Jeez I sound like a pervert now. |

A doctor frind of mine used to keep posted a list (with a pencil so you could add to it) of phrases referring to the process of removing semi-solid post-digestive materials from the body ... as I recall it was up to about 225 entries many years ago ...

my feeling is that rather than showing somebody doing something bad and putting the euphemism up as the title, you would simply literally show what the phrase depicts.
so if your euphemism is "beating the bishop" rather than showing some obscene act, you'd rather show a literal depiction of someone beating up a bishop, in the comic acting sense.
but I suppose it would also be fun to see the actual bad things depicted and the euphemism as the title. |

I'm 100% for showing the euphemism itself: I'd rather see foot contacting a bucket than a dead body, in other words...

Glad to see this was chosen as a challenge!
I'm seriously considering entering this... it could be FUN!
And I can't wait to see the photos created!!!
But since it requires advanced editing, I will have to wait until Saturday or Sunday to do editing (that's when I'll have my new computer).

its doesn't "require" advanced editing, you can basic edit the photo if you choose. same goes for expert editing challenges. you can enter an advanced or basic a editing image if you choose.
the advanced editing rule set allows more manipulation but you aren't required to actually do any of it if you dont feel the need to.

maybe "require advanced editing" is a euphemism.
"did you see Chuck's date last night"
"yeah, she required advanced editing"
"more like expert"
"word." |
