| Just wondering if any one can tell me if the built in flash on the Nikon D700 can fire the Alien Bee 800? I know the Alien Bee comes with a 15' sync chord, but i'm a clumsy s.o.b so if theres a chord for me to trip over, it will happen. lol |

| Probably. In slave mode, the AB800 just looks for a burst of light to trigger the flash and I'm pretty sure I've done this before with a Canon flash. It's less likely to work in a bright room or outdoors where the flash would be lost amid the ambient light. |

| I agree with Scalvert that it will most likely work unless you're in a bright setting. Why not get the wireless sync setup? It's not nearly as expensive as Pocket Wizards, and works great... and no cords to trip over :) |

| make sure you have the flash in manual power mode or the preflash will fire the strobe and you won't get proper sync and firing of the AB. |

thanks everyone! Alanfreed, I actually just remembered i had bought a radio flash trigger system about a year ago but never used it. I'm going to see if that will work. Thank you for the suggestion
