A few commenters wondered about my dirty windshield shot. I used my favorite technique for turning minimal contrast into texture and flatness into odd colors by use of tone curves.
I started with this shot of an abondoned car:

Cropped, then a tone curve for contrast:

and finally another curve for color:

To give my entry:

I tried to keep some recognizable shapes (mainly the sweep of the wipers) while getting rid of the writing and any other obvious signs of human presence.

I almost titled it Lunar Irrigation System, especially after the first adjustment : )

Very cool - certainly adds interest to that shot. Thanks for the tutorial.

Truly an arresting abstract image...... I had no initial idea of what it was, of course the title provided the clue...... I would have believed it was a Lunar Irrigation System, but my initial positive response was to the excellent design and wierd green colour. Your crummy score on this included my vote of an 8 for the good crop and remarkable textures & composition.
