So I am going to be entering challenges soon, but I had a question for you guys.

I would like to add a copyright to my images, however, I noticed in the rules, it states:

You May Not:

add text to your entry or its border during editing. This includes copyright statements

So I'm assuming if I do add this, I could be DQ'd?

Please advise, though not that it really matters. Because if I add it to the bottom of the picture, it can be cropped out and stolen anyways.

Can't add text to the image.

You can embed your copyright in the image's metadata. Some metadata is "stickier" than other metadata.

It's a dilemma for me to export an image from Aperture without embedded metadata, like the copyright. On the one hand, that would ensure anonymity, but provide no copyright "mark".

Copyright text is one of the most reasons for DQ. But if you want to add one you can go to "My Home"->"My Workshop" and there is a button for watermark options. The watermark won't show up until after the voting.

you can watermark your images after the fact.

also this site offers first layer deterrent, your images are overlayed with a gif that so that you can't right click and copy an image, a would be thief can still screen cap though.

just periodically check your images from time to time. there are some pretty vigilant peeps here too and if we see a familiar image no getting credit the owner get notified.

ETA the site has a watermarking feature.

Thanks so much. I still have to learn more about this site, never noticed the copyright option.
