I always shoot for challenges. The shot I entered is very much one I had in mind to try for. It's not quite the way I wanted it, composition wise, but I have no control over some things. :-)
The thing is, I'm really quite happy with it. One of those I saw on the tiny camera screen and smiled. Still smiled when it came up on the screen on the computer. So despite the pathetic little score, I'm good with the picture, both as a picture, and an entry. |

Well, not really. This IS a competition website, and the name of the game is to score the highest. But for those of us who find that incredibly hard to do, this is an excellent alternate game. |

That's the source of all problems - competition. Let's abolish it! ;)
But seriously this is the attraction and the problem with DPC. It is a competition site so, naturally, everyone wants to win. But then only images that cater to the AVERAGE taste win. So you can't really win when you win (because you have pleased the average voter) and if you don't win you still feel bad no matter how many of the alternative PH crowd comments and faves you get!
So I really do not know the solution to that but if anyone wants to win a ribbon I can offer coaching services. It would be an interesting experiment. |

| Almost one whole point less than yesterday... still a good score though, but I noticed that I got several votes under 4... some repetitive patterns especially 7s and then a very low vote. I know why, but I dediced not to discuss such stuff during voting. I think that after challenge discussions would be much more useful and interesting. |

I agree, but more than applauding I feel like saying thanks.
Literal interpretations can be interesting and pleasant, but too much of that and voting becomes for the most part a boring shelving exercise, with not much for me to take home at the end. |
