I'm mostly a Canon guy, but I have something nice to say about Nikon. I have a set of Nikon Monarch ATB 10x42 Binocular. I've had them for 18 months and they are quite good for birding and wildlife spotting. And, they are very reasonable in price. About a month ago, the right eyepiece sort of "fell apart", became unsealed and non-functional. It was a parts failure. I was ready to buy a new set of binocs. But, on a whim I decided to investigate the repair route.

I called B&H to inquire about any warranty coverage. Turns out there is a limited 25 year warranty on the binocs. B&H gave me the Nikon Service link. I sent them to California for service. I paid the Fedex charge. Turns out they were completely covered by that 25 year warranty. No charge for repair. As long as the "pipes" and lenses were intact, they readily agreed to repair the eyepiece seals and threads. Just rec'd them via UPS yesterday in perfect condition and in the box was a $10 coupon card for Nikon stuff. Now I'm a happy customer. This was a very positive service experience and I have my much needed binocs back in my hands.

That's a lovely story. Makes me all warm & tingly. I love good customer service.

Regarding binoculars, I have a pair of Nikon Marine binoculars, weather sealed, internal compass for taking bearings, that have served me well for years. Nikon does good glass :-)

Indeed that is a testimonial to Nikon's product support. I've had good luck with them in the past too. I also won a pair of older Nikon binocs, which I really like. There are higher-end binoculars, but The Nikon line is a really good value, lots of bang for the buck.
