Note to the Site Council ... next macro challenge should occur during winter north of the equator. That would help the BUGFLOWER/Total ratio I think. |

...or at least save space in our refrigerators. |

Hmmmmm, "alive at the time of the shooting".... does that mean it's now dead and sitting in your freezer? ;-D |

My 'bug' was very much alive, but it would not have remained that way if I had left it on my mother's garden swing. I took it home, and over the course of a day took several pictures of it. I then took it out back and let it loose.
Moving? Yeah, he would pose for me. 'tilt your head up just a little.' 'Good!' :) Of course those commands were given with my finger, not my mouth. After working with him for a while I learned what movements I could expect him to make when I moved my finger close to him in a certain way. I ended up with a pose that was very similar to a studio portrait. Well, I think so anyway. :D
It was a lot of fun, but it was also hard. That is probably what made it so much fun. The hardest part, even harder than getting the DOF acceptable, was the lighting. Those little suckers have shiny areas that are hard to light without coming out with very high contrast. What did you use to light your critters? How did you judge the correct exposure on areas that are too small to see clearly?

Yes I did a bug entry too. Alive. I don't want to say too much about it yet so I won't give my entry away. I was so happy and flattered to get the comment I did from Jacko! (thank you Jacko) It only took me about 6 shots to get the picture I entered.
