Hi. I was wondering how people calibrate their monitor to ensure that the brightness and contrast is appropriate. Do you work simply off the gamma chart, or do you try to match a grey card to your monitor, or some other trick?
Catch - I'm talking about a cheapo monitor, not professional stuff. I need the quick and dirty way to ensure what looks good on my monitor will look ok on everyone elses.

there's also the strip below the photos to help. ideally, you should see good seperation of values in both the ends and the middle.
