dipaulk : Low score given because of subject -- I've seen this so many times on DPC.

Member Since: Jul. 11 2004

This user has not participated in any challenges yet.

I am very glad to know that this person who hasn't partaken in any challenges yet can leave such a crappy omment just to say they have commented. I have seen flowers, babies, religious stuff, bugs, birds, computer parts etc. on this site as well but I wouldn't have left someone such a dumb comment. Thts as bad as sayin I've seen a picture before so I'm giving it a low score. I am really not worried about the low score cuz my entry into the blue challenge was a joke anyway but still I can't believe these dumb comments.

Would you rather they give you a one and not say why?

Bad comments are better then no comments, but I don't think this is too bad. They told you why they voted it low. You can disagree with there thinking, but at least be happy they shared their thinking.

Please don't discourage people from commenting on images.

ΓΆ€ΒΆ I disagree - no comments are better than bad ones.
ΓΆ€ΒΆ What thinking?
ΓΆ€ΒΆ Who is discouraging anyone from commenting. Dispite notonline's obvious and unreigned frustration, it's the flippant superficiality of one comment he's addressing.

I've seen numerous people post saying they don't ever say anthing constructive or negative about a photo because they get nasty PM's back or they hear about it on the boards. So yes, complaining about comments that aren't that bad discourages people from leaving comments as to why they gave a photo a low score.

Personally I'd much rather have comments saying, stupid subject, not creative, horrible lighting, looks like everything else, doesn't meet the challenge, what were you thinking... then a low score and no comments explaining why I have a bad score. With the comments I at least learned something, or know what I did wrong.

Now, if dipaulk did not like the photo notonline posted because he saw a ton of photos exactly like it (probably on the everyday object challenge) would it have been better for him/her to score the photo low and not say anything? NO! He/she simply said I just saw a whole bunch of pictures just like your's so I'm going to rate it low. Nothing wrong with that. Are you going to say dipaulk doesn't think right when he/she votes?

Do you need to be sugar coated? Should we only give comments that make the photographer happy? I could just cut and paste "great shot" on to everyone's pictures if that makes you feel better.

thats not what I was saying at all. It is the blue moon challenge not the everyday objects and it IS the ONLY one in that challenge. My pic was also a joke and if you knew which one you'd know why I say that. She votes Based on OTHER pictures she has seen on DPChallenge NOT in the challenge. Tht is why I said I have seen pics of cats, dogs, baby, trees, flowers ETC but does not mean that they look the same but only that they look similar. I entered the shot in NO way to win but so people would get a kick out of it and maybe get a laugh/chuckle out of it. I can however take helpful or unhelpful comments but comments like that warrented based on seeing it somewhere ELSE on this site is just stupid and plain ignorant. It would be like all ones on a challenge titled cars or automobiles because everybody entered a photo of a car.

I don't have any problem with bad comments. As long as they are constructive. Get out there and comment! Be honest and consructive.
