Hi, I have entered a photo in the best of 2011 challenge.. my question is this though.. It was taken with my previous camera and I no longer have that listed in my equipment on here.. is it ok to leave the entry with "no camera specified" and "no lens specified" in the drop down menus for these parts ?? .. or do I need to add my old camera to my list even though i no longer have it? (which seems a little pointless as i don't own it now)

You can leave it blank. If it were required information, your upload would have failed with an error message about leaving a field empty.

The benefit of filling that info out is if your entry does well, you get the ego stroke of seeing your name in the top rated photos taken with that equipment.

This is easy. List the camera you used to capture the image. Yeah, I understand you don't have that camera listed as one of yours now. So, temporarily change your preferences to list that as "your camera". Then, select that camera in the challenge entry data. Once done, then feel free to change your preferences to real time data.

Mostly, it doesn't matter what camera you list for the challenge entry data. Your original image exif data will show SC and Admins the facts. That's what matters. Hope your image wins best of 2011.

Thanks for the info guys,. i will just leave it as not specified.. the exif data on the original will show the data needed anyway if its requested..

hahn23, i can't see it winning with the talent on this site but a nice placing would make me smile :)

FWIW I have all the cameras I've ever used to post an image here listed in my profile -- it means there's no issue when someone looks at the entry, and it gives people an idea of what I've used and how I've progressed (or not). Actually, I can still use (and sumbit pictures) with four of them ... :-)

And *I* have added cameras and lenses to my profile just so I could attribute them when I entered shots made with someone else's gear, then removed them after posting the data up. I suspect it's common.
