I'd prefer not having my profile photo showing in forum posts and I'm not seeing a preference setting to not have it displayed. I see where I can select to hide profile photos ("Do not display user's profile photos beside their name."), but that doesn't keep mine from displaying for everyone to see in forum posts, it just toggles it off when I'm reading forums.
Short of deleting my profile photo is there another option to not display it? |

Good idea. I hate seeing all those avatars there. |

I don't get it. we have always been able to see the avatar when we click on your user name, why is it such a big deal that we now see it via a different method? |

You can select (on your preference page) to "Hide Profile Photos", but that doesn't keep yours from being displayed to others' in the forum threads. |

Thanks, I didn't realize that (read your post too quickly). I've changed my preferences.
Now if I could only get rid of the lens info beneath each name. It's cluttering up the page, making the left side too big. |

It's silly. Sure I have one lens listed as my default lens but I don't exclusively use it. |

It weights the left side of the screen too much and with the new colour on the top right buttons it's annoying IMO. I guess change is something so what ya do.... |

First let me say that I'm really enjoying the profile pics again... I had quit using the Greasemonkey add-in and I missed the feature. It's good that folks who don't want the pics showing up can turn it off. And I'm sure glad I'm not such a control freak that I'm worried about who might be seeing my profile pic :-P
Edit for typo

I don't understand why you're OK with having your profile photo in your profile, but not in forum posts. It seems quite curious to me. Can you enlighten me?.
ETA... I agree that it's silly to have the lens there. Also, no need for an icon... maybe the profile pic could be shadowed or something to differentiate members from freeloaders?

Just my little 2 cents, I LOVE seeing all the faces on my comments and in the fourms.. My feeble mind don't seem to wrap around words as much as is does imanges... I have to click on the name to see the profile page then I'm all like OH YEAH I've seen his/her work I know him/her....It actually makes me feel more connected to dpc... (Just my humble opinion)

While I agree that "control freak" was not nice, I do have to also wonder why you're concerned about this at all? I'm afraid that it just doesn't make any sense - of course I feel the same way about people who are over-diligent about any one aspect of security - since it's so easy to just find another chink in the armor. |

The lens thing in the forums should go, especially it no longer loads on the entry submission page where it might actually be relevant ...

When I uploaded an entry yesterday it filled pretty much everything it could from the EXIF. I used my default camera and lens for the shot so I can't be certain if it read those or filled them from my profile, but I didn't have to type anything in those fields, or in the camera settings. It was pretty cool, actually.
Haven't uploaded a non-challenge image to my portfolio so I don't know how that's working these days. Hoping it's working just like the challenge entry did. |

Many, if not most, of us strip the EXIF when we save for web, to gain a few kb in image quality AND to preserve anonymity in the challenge process.
