One of your biggest problems is that you left the photo untagged without a color space. You need to assign it the sRGB color space at the very least. If you use Photoshop use the Edit/Assign Profile menu and then save it to a new file.

Dave, I checked, it was already on the sRGB option. What does that mean though? |

I could jabber on and on about color spaces, but for the most part there are only a few rules to live by. Explaining WHY to live by these rules takes a lot longer :)
1. Import and edit using Adobe RBG or ProPhoto RGB (usually done by default if using Lightroom)
2. Before you export it to the web or for printing convert it to sRGB. This is done by default for Lightroom exports, but not for Photoshop. In Photoshop you want to either "save for web" or manually convert it with "Edit->Convert To Profile" and have "Intent" option set to "Relative Colorimetric". |

It looks fine on my screen, but I admit I'm too cheap and don't have a probe to calibrate my monitor. No one else seems to think it looks too dark so I would say it's more of an issue with a crappy Wallgreens printer. If they won't provide an ICC profile or if it still doesn't look right then you can try to guess at the profile. Print off a bunch of 4"x6" with different exposure adjustments (and color if that's also off). These prints are always dirt cheap, then when you find the one that looks best you can print the bigger version.
btw, great work on the restoration :) |

Yeah, I couldn't find their profile download. I guess I will just bump up the brightness in increments and have them printed.
One question. Do I up the brightness or the exposure? I still don't know what the difference is, but I do know they are totally different.
Thanks BTW!

This will be my next attempt, however I expect this one to be more difficult. He was only 21 in this one.
