actually it sounds quite clearly like the opposite of what you suggest.
'turn garbage into art by taking a photograph', not 'by making garbage into art and then photography it'.
then, I enjoy people exploring possibilities and posting good images, not being compliant to a necessarily short description, so I score high both interpretations and others too, if the image is good. |
that was my point, ppl often just read "garbage" AND USe that as the challenge entry/voting criteria rather than the actual challenge be it turning garbage into art literally, or by capturing a not so appealing subject in an appealing way. i vote on the strength of the photo first then consider its challenge worthiness. |

Funny the posts that say, "My photo's doing poorly. It must be the voters who are wrong. They didn't read the description. Or, they didn't really look deeply into my photo."
To paraphrase the husband's lament of 'my wife doesn't understand my needs,' --- voters didn't understand my art.
Not calling anyone out, just a theme I've noticed in many current challenge threads. My photo is doing poorly in this challenge but I have only one person to blame for it - me. |

Finally have some comments too, which is helpful. But I think going for an unappealing subject rather than a literal interpretation of turning garbage into art will be my downfall :P (or maybe it's my crap photo?? haha)

You really need to stop giving away which photo is yours, its supposed to be an anonymous thing until the end when we get to find out who took what.. I now know which photo is yours because I made the comment you are quoting... and I stand by that comment.. you really need to not talk about your specific entry in detail on the forums until after the voting is over with..

Oh, right, sorry about that! I've edited the post (not that it helps, since YOU know exactly which one it is lol, but may mean others wont work it out). I haven't been around here long (like, a week lol) so I'm not really up with what can/can't be said, sorry!! Will refrain from making any more specific comments :) |

I certainly wasn't of the impression we were required to use garbage as a raw material to build an object or scene to photograph as this would require model making skills as well as photography however for those with such skills I do think it is a clever idea to do so. I think if garbage features as the key element of the photo that should be good enough to meet the challenge.
Either way, my photo is doing rubbish!!
