The picture was in a Groupon email with recent deals. So anyone else see whats wrong with this shot? Take a good look.

The girl in the back looks terribly photoshopped, but my gripe would be with the stingy size of those popcorn buckets. |

I don't see anything wrong with it at all. The girl in the back does not look photoshopped. She just appears brighter in contrast to the darker shadow in the foreground. There is another person sitting to her right which you only see a little of behind the guy's head in the foreground. The bucket of popcorn in the back row looks normal to me as well. There are a couple of empty seats between the girl in the background and the seat where a person could easily be sitting in the shadows with the bucket resting on an arm rest or even in there lap. The seat back casts a dark enough shadow to mask a leg or an arm, and the angle of the seating could easily put a person mostly out of the frame and any other part of them in shadow. The light from the movie screen was bright enough to push the exposure down a bit to add to the shadows. The light on the guy closest and in front also appears normal because of this and the angle of his seating. The shot could have easily been taken in the aisle closest to the wall where it would naturally be darker on his left side.
Unless I'm overlooking some obvious....I see nothing odd, and it appears to be a regular shot to me.

I don't see it that way at all. She's a bit out of focus because of the depth of field and looks natural compared to the people in front of her along the same focal plane. She is also Caucasian with lighter skin then the rest of the group which means she will reflect more light and appear a little bit brighter. Also because of the curved nature of movie theater seating she is more in the middle and the light from the screen hits her face more directly then the people on the edge seats. Angle of reflection is to the angle of incident. In her case more light is being reflected straight forward off her face.

Damn you Ken! I was trying to defend the natural looking qualities of my processing and you threw me under the bus. Thanks for nothing! ;) |
