This is my stock photography sales statistic for December 2011. You can find a complete list of stock photography agencies that I work with here.

These are for me the best 4 performing stock agencies for December 2011:

Zazzle

Can Stock Photo

As I was suspecting it (vacation drop), December had a decrease of 20% compared to November and an increase of 21% compared to December 2010. Comparing 2011 to 2010 I had an increase of 26%. It was the best month ever for Pixmac.

(This statistic include referral earning at the different agencies)

Can I ask how we should use this information? I see you post it here monthly, but I don't quite get what it's for.

I thought that, 7 challenges entered a few comments made but a few of these posts, monetary figures would be more useful to see if it's actual worth bothering with stock

You may not wish to share actual earnings but the data as presented is fairly "meaningless" without additional data.

For example -- the overal earnings graph shows a strong trendline over a 3 yr period. If you aren't comfortable sharing actual earnings, it would be interesting to see a time component or #uploads as another expression in the graph. This would help the community better understand the commitment level needed to be successful in stock. Is it a part time gig, full time, 24/7, etc.?

It looks like you are doing well and if the trend continues the future looks bright!

I think he posted it in a thread awhile back. he averages around 500 a month. So you can assume the lines are 100 marks. That is my best guess.

One thing I find interesting is that it took him a year to reach 100 a month in sales. I have been meaning to PM him but I am wondering if it is due to having a bigger portfolio or having figured out which shots sell better and having more of those, or something else entirely.

I found it useful when trying to decide which stock companies to submit to, also it is helpful to know how long it takes on average to start making a little money. The only thing I wish is that he had the number of photos in his portfolio to go along with the figures.

Exactly, the pieces of the pie don't matter unless you know how many pictures are at each agency.

Correct it was about a year before I made $100/month regularly. I have a little over 2000 images in my portfolio. I submit my image to all the agencies, but the rejections are different from agency to agency.

Some contributors looking for new agencies. The statistics can help to maybe find the right new one for you. Maybe also an increment to continue. It generates traffic to my websites and blog, and referral links.

When I started with the statistic, it looks like everyone was doing it. I like to look at statistics. When I have a bad month, and I see that other did not do that well either, then I don't feel so bad. The statistic also show that it is normal, to have a bit of an up and down.
