some kind of locking mechanism for a pole, the thumb switch on the right suggests expandable, maybe a tripod joint? |

Photo enlarger from the days of film and fluids?
2nd guess, a spot light for theatre or stage.

Draw straws and short straw gets to post next.
I'm fresh out of mystery. I will look for new whatzits to shoot today and get back in later. I used to print my own film, so I knew right away what that was.

Me too, but I just got here. I had a Besseler too, though mine was quite a bit larger, for 5x7 films...

I have one but I can't upload as I'm not on my normal computer and it is seemingly unable to upload now...
That enlarger is a cheaper model, but it can do up to 6x7 as well. Granted, I got it for completely free so it was REALLY cheap, but even buying them they are low priced... |

I walked all around and through this thing and could not figure out what it was and it is out in the middle of nowhere.
