Did not know that... ya learn something new every day!

What?? A cheese head doesn't know all about cheese processing? lol

In his defense, I probably spend about two hours a week studying a wide variety of cheeses, from cheddar to brillat myrtilles. :) (oh my god, that brillat myrtilles!)... So I do have some rather esoteric cheese knowledge. :)

Its not for cheese and its not removing liquid from the white stuff but rather through it. It is a press for food though.

A press for apples, as in making cider?
01/24/2012 09:34:03 PM · #1205
YES! It is the press at Clyde's Cider Mill in Mystic, CT.

First they chop up the apples and lay them in a bed of cloth (like a cheese cloth):

Then, the cloth is wrapped over the chopped apples and racked:

The press comes down to squeeze the juice out of the apples, leaving the pulp behind:

The juice is then collected:

Dang, I've been to Mystic, but not to the cider mill!

Its down the road from the aquarium, a couple of turns off the main road. It was pretty cool to see. They also had wine tasting in the back. There were some really good "dessert" wines there. I say "dessert" because tasting wine from France and Germany has pretty much spoiled my taste for anything here. :)

To expand on that thought, is it a spring to return a lever to a central position?

Just an observation here.... Collectively, we're pretty damn good at this game. :)

Let's be specific.

This isn't very specific, but it looks to be some sort of grounding lug.
