Its spring loaded, perhaps an electrical contact of some sort? Battery maybe? |

It looks like the electrical contact for a battery. I have one sitting right next to me for my Canon rechargeable batteries. |

Its because I've been working with a lot of electronic toys lately which all have similar type of connections. When you have a 5 year old going through batteries like crazy, add in the fact I just finished shooting a lot of photos over the past month for Christmas and vacation, I've become quite accustomed to those little springy things. :)
