Bit from a mechanical puller - like a steering wheel removal tool. |

Nope, that is the thing in it's entirety, there are no other parts. |

It is not, despite appearances, a wrench of any sort.

a tool for screw in chokes on a shotgun. |

I looks dome-shaped -- I think it's a hold-down of some sort (threaded shaft through the center hole, nut on top to clamp it down) but I can't quite place what I may have seen it on before. |

I'd call that a wrench, but to clarify, it is not used to tighten or loosen anything. |

Could be the part that holds the top of the lip on a shotgun shell on a reloader.
No you said it's not a part of something..hmmmmm

A spacer to hold the distance constant between two rods or tubes, or a gauge to set that spacing for building something.
The tightening instructions are a puzzle.
It looks sort of like a "tab washer" where you bend the tabs around a nut to lock it, but then the three "tabs" have different openings in them. Just a guess at size, it looks like 1/4", 5/16" and 3/8" to me.
The only other thing it looks to me like it would be good for is scraping the crud off tubing or pipe. |

An addition to my answer posted before.
"They allow the installer or inspector to verify proper tightening of a tube fitting, prior to pressurizing a system."

Yep.
If the gage will slip onto the fitting, it needs to be tightenedâ€Â¦if it won't, you're good to go.
I might have literally hundreds of these fittings on a typical tester that I work on. |

That's crazy and requires responsibility and patience I bet. Spork is the man!
Okay. I never know what to post so I'm pretty sure this is easy:

No, I didn't make it "that" easy :) Not when everyone posts some complicated stuff, and I have to learn about Gap inspection gauges etc. :)
ETA. I would give you a clue but I think that would be too obvious. So I'll wait a little.

Hint: It's something I always carry with me when I go somewhere. I mean when I'm not home.
