Waddy is on the right track. So is Kirbic, but it is not decorative. It has a purpose. |

Some kind of filter medium, like maybe for an A/C or swamp cooler, shot up close & personal? The scale is deceptive, but the tiny hairs are a clue about that. |

It's not a filter. The weave is way too large for filtering anything smaller than gravel.

wicker balls.
I've seen them used for stuffing with moss and used as hanging planters, but these seem a bit small, so I'll go with bird "chew" toys. |

It's not a loofah. I guess a hint is in order.
Kirbic was correct as to it's construction, but was not correct about what it is. Melonmusketeer was moving in the right direction with his comment about fleas.
