the total height of this structure is about 24"... and it serves a very specific purpose..

It's a rock cairn...used to mark trails, campsites, supply caches etc. in the backcountry.

I can't find this specific one, since people frequently knock them over and/or build new ones, but my guess is that it's in Acadia National Park in Maine.

Are you DENYING that there's a marmoset in a deerstalker cap in the background of that shot?

1; A marine navigation range marker set, keep them lined up and come straight into the inlet channel.

2; An ancient time-piece used for calendar work, like finding the equinox by using the sun's shadow at sunrise or sunset.

3; Leftovers, brought home in a lunch box, by one of the original construction workers at Stonehenge, and set up in his back yard at the end of the job?

what is it?

Well, I suspect it is part of the emblem on the front of a vehicle (auto?) but I've been unsuccessful in finding a match.

Too small to be a car grill / emblem.

Maybe it's a Kitchen Appliance?

ETA: Possibly a Lavazza espresso machine or accessory??
