is there a way to crop out a certain amount of pixels? Say, I want the end crop to be 600x800 coming from a in camera shot. Is there a way to do that? And resizing the image wont work because its still not cropped to where I want it.

Yeah - put 600 pixels in one of the boxes at the top and 800 in the other one...

Yes.
Click on the Marquee tool then on the on the Style box select Fixed Size then select your size, that's all.

You would have more flexibility in cropping if you set the crop tool to have the proper aspect ratio for 800 x 600.

With the crop tool selected, set the width to 4 and the height to 3. Then crop the area you want from the original photograph. After cropping, resize to 800 x 600, which will not crop further since the aspect ratio is correct for those dimensions.
