I live in a time zone where I'm two hours behind DPC.
At about 11:00 PM my time (1:00 AM DPC Time), I came onto the site and noticed the 24-Hour Challenge! So I whipped out my camera, and shot off a couple pictures and readied one for the challenge. I then realized that due to the time difference, my camera read 11:22 PM on July 30/04 as the time and date the picture was taken, which places the picture outside of the entry deadlines.
Since, at the time the picture was taken, the challenge had already begun, can I still enter my photo?
This might be a question for SC.

The SC take local time differences into account when validating an entry. As long as it was taken within the challenge deadlines according to server time it will be fine. (Server time can be checked at the bottom of every page.)
Feel free to wait for an SC to reply, but this has been asked many times before. I really thought it was in the FAQs though, wonder why it is not?

You are correct. We will assume that your camera is set correctly for the time zone you are registered in.
If you travel across time zones, you can set it to the new local time, but be prepared to offer additional verification of your actual physical presence in that place/time (and that it's still within valid server times), and also remember to change it back when you get home! |

Lee it's a 48 hour challenge anyway, not 24 hour so you got yourself a little more time :) |

That is true, Kiwi. But you forget the fact that I'm a lazy git, and NEVER want to have to do ANYTHING that isn't COMPLETELY necessary.

I wonder if anyone else does this? I live in GMT-8, but my cameras are set to GMT (UTC) time, so when I travel, I never have to change the clocks. |

We do not recommend this for DPC purposes. In reviewing your original images we will expect your camera to be set to your local time zone. If the EXIF does not reflect the challenge dates, as adjusted to your local time zone, we will have no choice but to disqualify for being outside the challenge dates.

Uh, that thing about me living in Pacific Time, just kidding. I live in Iceland. That's it, Iceland, where they use GMT. Yeah.

But wouldn't it be much simpler if you just let me use GMT? Then there's never any additional verification of actual physical presence required, or remembering to change the time, which is prone to error. Seems like it would be simpler FOR YOU GUYS if people did it this way, assuming it's made known up front. |

This creates the additional complication of dealing with cases where someone has their camera set wrong so they just say they are set to a different time zone.
