SO I was having a think, and had a thought! (I know shocker huh!)
How about an Advanced Challenge, with a little expert editing thrown in for good measure.
Meaning.
You can do expert rules, but only use 5 photos of the same scene ( so say, a landscape in one shot, then with birds flying though the same landscape in the next shot, a bear eating a duck in the next shot, a parachute falling from the sky, so same 5 shots, just has different things happening to make up a complete scene, unlike Advanced editing )) . Not 30 odd plus as we see in most Expert Challenge.
Does that make sense, or does that not make sense as I have not had coffee yet??

What I don't understand is why it would be more interesting having 5 images instead of 10 or 15 :) |

Because it is a challenge.
If you look at the Expert CHallenges top ten's, most of them are using up to 30-40 photographs to complete the scene. So can you make something that is as appealing with a constraint.

30-40 photographs? I had no idea that was happening. How could they possibly validate those entries? |

You mean something like this? :D
Well it could be a good idea... I don't know if it will change a lot what will be created, but we could try :) |

Sendind all the images... it took me at least 3-4 hours for the Day and Night challenge O.o |

I have absolutely no idea how the PS wizards seamlesslessly blend together 30-40 images in Expert, but admire them greatly for it. But whether it's only 10-15 captures or a few dozen, I'd still be wasting my time! It's all I can do to make just one capture look good! |

In fact, I would say that blending nicely 2 or 3 photos together isn't very different from blending 200+ together: if you can do the former you can do the latter. It is only a matter of time. |

some people are overwhelmed when it comes to even thinking of a scene that could contain 30 odd photos in expert challenges, so why not start off really small with only a few images and going from there. This way people are not overwhelmed, there are not 5 million photos to process or take little bits out of to complete a photo.
And that is not true snaffs, you can do it, it is easier than you think once you have the basics of it.

Hmm thanks for the encouragement, Juliet and Christophe, but I wouldn't even know what to do once I've done the editing on each individual image. And it's so easy to do something wrong, then have to backtrack and undo, then redo it, even with multiple saves. I just find it so frustrating :-/ |

I can always help you if you want, I am no expert, but I can blend stuff now using more than 2 photos. |

I'm with Susan on this. Yesterday I tried cloning something and it took me forever. I can't "draw" straight with a mouse - I shake too much. I can't even begin to consider blending/shading/erasing/revealing. Most importantly, though, is not that I can't do the techniques, but I can't SEE how to use them. I don't even know where to begin! I only see through a viewfinder - and what I see there is what you guys get (and most often, most of you don't care for it.)
I think they should all be Expert challenges. It get me to give it all up once and for all and save me a LOT of time! :-) |

I can usually do a decent cloning job, but just like Melethia says...I can't see how or where to use what toolset to use...but cheer up, Deb, at least you know blending/shading/erasing/revealing...I don't know any of that.
FWIW I rarely stray outside the safe confines of the Adjustments menu. That, plus a little dodge and burn, a little hit of cloning if needed, and eh wala 98% of my images are done. More recently I've begun playing a little with HDR. |

It's like karate, Susan. I can spell it, but that's all I know about it. I really don't have any idea what "shading" is, or blending or revealing for that matter. I have, in the past, used the eraser tool! There's that! :-) |

LOL!! Please don't leave the site, Deb, it wouldn't be the same without you. |
