I like that a lot, but, I don't think it'd do well, as most users here seem to hate grainy images.
I like it though, and would've given it a high rating. |

You hit that on the head! I am kinda new here but most seem to think that sharpness is the key?? I go for a feel and not so much of a razor sharpness on every photo. It works well on some images...but not all of them? But the critiques give me different point of views, and that help me learn.

It seems to me that a lot of things are accepted here when you can really show that they were included to improve a really great shot. A good use of something will make it when it is done perfectly. But soft focus and grain are the two hardest to overcome objections to on DPC I think. I also love graininess when used right, but see it usually scored down here. I do have to admit that it is difficult to tell sometimes what the photographer "was going" for and you just have to go by your gut as to whether it ultimately "worked". I personally like how you used it in your shot that you are showing.

This comes closer to meeting the challenge than most of the pictures posted. I'm not sure what score I would have given you, but anything that didn't meet the challenge (in my opinion) scored a 4 or less. |
