Hi all, I'm getting Photoshop CS5 for Christmas, and just wanted to know if anyone could recommend a good book or online resource regarding using Layers (masking, selections etc)?
As a LR3 man, I'm hopelessly out of my depth with Photoshop, and would love to have a clear, concise resource to make the most efficient use of my time rather than fumbling in the dark.
Thanks!

I can highly recommend this book. I have an earlier edition (for CS3).

Thanks Fritz, I've seen other books by Martin Evening before and always been impressed. Thanks for the recommendation.

How about swapping some lessons? I bought LR3 a while ago but never use it because it confuses me too much. I could really do with a few pointers there, and in return could help you with PS.

Photoshop based magazines and their on line versions are great tools. I especially like some of the step by step exercises that are aimed at typography or GoLive backgrounds, that are not related to photography, since they can make clear things in PS that always puzzled me such as why you would use pin light or a difference layer. Learning all the tools is a bear if you are only editing images. Once you learn what their primary purpose is, you can see how you might apply them to editing images.
