Well I think I have done it! I am teetering right on the razor edge of something good, and something bad. 142 votes on my submission for the current challenge, and I haven't gone above or below 4.xxxx.

0 comments. 0 comments?!?

The critique club is booked up, that's fine, but one thing I could always rely on was at least some honest opinions from individuals as they were voting, all my other images got great comments. If I love this site for one thing it's the input I get from my fellow amateur (and pro) photographers.

Ok, it's possible that I haven't got any votes below 4, and everyone who sees it votes a 4 or 5, but still - in my opinion, a 4 deserves an explaination, (as suggested in the voting guideline)

Please... If you give someone a 4 or less, tell them why so they can do better on the next challenge. Thats what the comments are for. If they can't take the criticism, they should get their photographs off the internet.

Even if you don't hit mine, you will at least be helping someone learn.

Cheers!

A 4 is either a very good photo gone unrecognized or a mediocre one with some popular appeal.
A 5 could be a superb photo with com-motive qualities causing anxieties in most voters or another mediocre one depicting a popular sentiment.

If your picture is as good as the title you chose for this thread, you've been slammed by an insignicant majority. ;-)

Like you, I am somewhat discouraged. I really hadn't expected to place in the top 10. Hell, I didn't reaaly expect to be in the top 75, but I would like to get in the running more than I am. I must keep reminding myself of a couple of things. First off, I am not doing this for the glory. I enjoy it and it has opened up a different way of looking at things and people. Secondly, I am still learning and there are many helpful aspects of this site and many others like it to help me. As long as I see some improvement in my scores I will keep plugging along and so should you. BTW I like some of you pictures and I am going to put you in my favorites to keep an eye out. Maybe we can support each other.

Thanks for the comments guys :)

I can't say I am doing this for the glory either, I am truely a novice. But it's the comments that I come here for (not the score heh). If I get no input from the people here, there is no point in me participating in challenges.

Agrimace, I am glad you liked what you saw, and that sounds like good advice. I will plug along to the next challenge. Maybe after it's done you can tell me what you think I can do better :)

But I can't stress enough - if you vote below 4, tell them why. It's courtesy.
