It wouldn't be far off the mark to say I travel for the purpose of taking photographs... I can't say I recommend this to everyone, but it works for me :-)

True but you're coming from the point of view of a photographer. I think the article was meant for non-photographers. It goes without saying that those holding up camera phones at every landmark, at every concert, are not photographers. Video has only made things worse. Now you can't go to a concert without several idiots in front of you holding up phones for hours on end.

i have the opposite problem to this article, i am usually so mesmerized by my surrounding that i forget to take pictures. I always look back and wish i had gotten this or that.
