I've been asked to take pictures at the reception following my grandfather's memorial service this week, for the benefit of people who weren't able to be here for it. It isn't the funeral itself -- just people visiting after the funeral. I don't know what the space is like, or the lighting, but I wondered if there are "standard" poses for family get-togethers, in the way that there are for weddings. Thoughts? Has anyone else ever shot an event like this?

I'm not sure I'd go with any posed shots. I'd be more inclined to take candids with a telephoto lens. This way you can take people in their natural relaxed state. You are also more likely to capture the real emotion of the the day this way. Use a fast lens and as much natural light as possible.
