My enthusiasm is back with my old-new Nikon D1x and Nikon 50mm F1.8 lens. I have entered 7 challenges since last week, and want to enter more images. I am very happy with the quality, all I have to do is come up with better ideas. Lacking subjects lately.

So, my question to you is, what enthuses you to take photos and enter challenges?

For me challenges mean inspiration. I'm creating the best shots so far thanks to the challenges. Without them I wouldn't create stuff like this:

glad to see you have your groove back. Alex, you are striding- you have that creative energy all over your shots. Me, I have four entries up, happy to get a 20 for all four.

Just like music,or golf, it is good to see that new equipment can inspire- but that should teach you its all inside.

Hey Alex, good to see you got your groove back!

Well, it's always fun to take out new gear and stretch its legs, especially after you've outshot its predecessor. I shot Plane of Perspective barely 2 weeks after buying the D90. I'm still nowhere near outshooting it yet. Also having a fairly regular shooting partner helps, you can bounce ideas off of each other. Good idea to have gear that is comparable so one of you doesn't get fed up with not being able to get as good results as the other.

In my case Ryan, aka Magnumphotography, now shoots most of the time with a 5D Mark II and 500mm lens. However, my D90 and 300mm can keep up, as my crop-frame sensor means that I am actually shooting with more like 450mm.

And as he's also my bf, he makes me do ungodly things like get out of bed early and go shoot with him, lately wildlife like certain bird species migrating through. And even if the birds in question may not turn up, or are so small they are barely blirdies, the area in which we find them usually yields good photo opportunities.

Hope this helps! :-)

I am confused...
Why is everyone commending "Alex" on getting his groove back, when FocusPoint (Leo Koach) was the one saying his enthusiasm has returned... Did I miss something?

Your right...... weird ain't it.

Well, Leo...

It's great the new camera's floating your boat. New gear, good gear, always gets me enthusiastic, no two ways about it.

But, in a larger sense, week in and week out, what gets me chomping at the bit is something special about the light. Good light, great light, can always pull me out of a slump. I live for the light. I moved 3000 miles for the light :-)
