Which one for a landscape competition?

Hmmm, that's tough, Wendy. For me, the falls is not expansive enough to be considered "landscape", while the ocean is, well, ocean. I'm only sensitive to that distinction because I submitted something similar to a landscape group, which rejected it as it not being "land". Of these two, I prefer the ocean. |

Thanks!! its actually a river, not ocean. I don't hold out much hope, but I figured if I'm entering things in the bird category, I might as well give landscape a shot. :) |

I agree- while the waterfall is nice, there is no context. A landscape without context feels empty and devoid of purpose. You must capture the "feel" of being there, and the waterfall just feels small and lacking wonder. The river-scape thing conveys the feel of the place in a much much more majestic fashion. |
