It's National November Writing Month, and every year a group of writers attempt to write a 50,000 word novel in 30 days( //www.nanowrimo.org/ ). I'm attempting it this year. However that's not what I'm posting to share. I just discovered the absolute greatest writing software I have EVER used.

If you write, and haven't tried this, they have a 30 day free trial. It will change your life! =) |

Cool stuff.
I've always wanted to write a novel but the English language eludes me.
I like the software but it's not availble for windows yet..
For all those who are not into writing novels and long documents yet want simple text editor.
I highly recomend OmmWriter. I use it for everything, and I love it. |

I have to say, that looks like really interesting software. I may have to give it a try. I often work on relatively long documents, and would welcome software that makes it easier. They mention it is in use by lawyers, and that makes me pay attention. I often face writing documents that involve multilevel numbered lists, similar to many legal documents, and they are a biatch to manage in Word.

Haha, yeah I can imagine. When you try it out, be sure and take the time to go through the tutorial. It explains so much and only takes about 45 minutes to get through. The program has some incredibly nifty features, not only for organization (which is AMAZING), but also for distraction free writing. My favorite feature so far is that you can bring up your document in an attractive full screen mode if you want and it helps discourage web-surfing and multi-tasking (and checking DPC scores when you know you should be working). =) |

I tried this a couple years back and was meeting my quota up to 27,000 words and then the combination of work and school and girlfriend precluded me from finishing. But, it was GREAT fun up until that point and I mean to go and do it again! I applaud all that try it, and good luck! |

I write my novels the old-fashioned way - in a notebook - then type them into Word. ;-Þ |

Did NaNoWriMo one year. It's insane. I did write my 50K words, and went to the party afterwords.
The Scrivener program looks a lot like Final Draft - for a long time, the scriptwriting industry standard. I don't know if it still is. It also has a prose version. |
