Hey all
I shot at a horse show this past summer and have been getting plenty of requests for prints. One person emailed and asked for prints, then asked what I charge for electronic images.
So what to do...ask her what size, then charge her accordingly to what I would charge for a print of the same size? Or offer to burn her off a CD of all images of her and her horse for $50, to which I would yield all rights...and risk scaring her off with what may look like an all-or-nothing proposal?
Help much appreciated!! |

Hell, I'd be charging a minimum of $50 PER IMAGE, so if your all-inclusive $50 scares her off, the heck with her. She pays more than that in carrots for her nag each month...

Hehe...though in fact I did know a girl at one barn who did feed her horse 10lbs of carrots each time she rode...which was approximately 5 times a week...5lbs before the ride, and 5lbs after.
And with the going rate of carrots nowadays being what, $2.50/5lb bag? Yep, wouldn't take long!!! And yes, her horse was a chestnut, and a very bright chestnut at that. At least in terms of coat colour if not brains :-)
So apart from Bear's suggestion that this lady singlehandedly make up my RRSP contribution this year, anyone else with any thoughts about what I should charge for electronic images? |

Its been a while since horse show days, but as I remember it, it is a pretty specialized market. Some shooters seem to go with a $50 price for a print and a one year licence on the image for advertising purposes. |

I suspect that she probably wants electronic images more for Facebook and the like. Still, I do know that one rider, who is getting a dozen prints done, owns a small local boarding facility and bred probably all of the three horses she rode, so I wouldn't be surprised if she did use them for ads. |
