I was just curious to know what is the average number of shots users of d60 or 10d cameras get per charge. I Have just recently purchased a used camera and wasn't sure what a new battery might offer me.
Thanks

Well I manage to run my battery down once I've taken about 300 shots, but I use the IS on the lens quite a bit which drains the battery even more than usual.
I carry 1 spare charged battery, and to be honest I don't remember ever getting to the point where I had to change in the field.
I do tend to change when I swap the 1Gig CF for the 4Gig microdrive just to be safe though.
Hope that helps

i shot nearly 400 photo's over the course of a day. it was the Big Day Out music festival.
I was using the battery grip, and after the whole day, both were only half used.
i then consumed the remaining battery on the train home and the following morning reviewing all 400 photo's 2 or 3 times over. |

Well I´m not a 60d or 10d user but I think my numbers are comparable.
I usually charge my battery after around 300 shot but I have shot over 400 on one charge. |

According to Canon, the 1OD's stock battery life is 650 shots, EF 50mm f/1.4 lens, image review [on], review time of 2 secs and image quality at Large (JPG).
My own milage is similar, well over 1200 shots before I recharge the two batteries in the grip (mostly with EF 17-40 mm L).

Do you shoot with the LCD review mode off? I typically have it on for 2 seconds for each shot, and that seems to reduce my battery life by about half.

I have it on for 8 secs to view the histogram, mainly. The majority of my shots lately have been in TV mode and with Continuous Shooting [ON], many of them taken somewhere between 1/640 sec and 1/1000 sec.
I should mention that temperatures here have been high. I understand this can effect battery life positively.

With a battery grip on a D60, I don't know about the actual number of shots [over 1000 for sure] but the life spands about 10 hours in my experience with the camera running about 90% of the time. That's with the review on. |
