This might be a fun idea for one challenge as an experiment. Allow each person to enter 2 photos. Sometimes we have 2 (or more) photos that we can't choose from and sometimes challenges don't get a lot of entries anyway, so here's a way to boost the numbers (and hopefully our scores).
Voting would be the same, of course, and it would be up to Langdon to decide whether both of our scores would count or just the highest score. |

I think this is a great idea, but I think it would probably require a lot of extra code to work.
There probably isn't a setting somewhere that says "Number of simultaneous entries=1" and they just have to set it to "2." They would probably have to redo a whole load of code.
I do however, think it would be a lot of fun. Especially in the Motivational challenge for example, where more ideas would be more fun! Somebody could win the Blue and the Red! |

This sounds like it would be an interesting experiment. It would allow people to enter their favorite image and the image they think would be the most popular. I like it. |

Even if it doesn't work as a regular challenge, it could still be done as a side challenge, as long as you have one neutral person who could receive and post all the images to preserve anonymity of the entrants, and who could keep track of the votes. |

To make it more fun for the voter, how about if the challenge was to take two different photos of the same subject (e.g. front and back of a building, inside and outside of something, etc) and then the voters try to match the two.
The challenge would be to clearly use the same subject, but make the photos different enough to confuse people.
For your own fun/learning experience, you could use drastically different techniques/approaches for each photo. |

Its easy. Create two challenges with the same title and description. Except one is labeled Contest A and the other is Contest B. You can submit in both contests. Those with two real good entries may win two ribbons. |

That gives rise to an interesting conundrum; is it REALLY the same thing? For example, I take photo "A" and photo "B", similar but not identical images that both "meet the challenge" and enter them in challenges "A" and "B" respectively. But, by the luck of the draw, challenge "A" has several other, similar images, all slightly better than my image "A" in the voters' eyes, whilst challenge "B" has none, except the one I entered. So did the image I entered in challenge "B", which outscored my challenge "A" entry, do so because it stood out more in that challenge, or because it was a "better" image?
Or build your own scenario... I think it's kind of a limp exercise if it's not multiple entries in the same challenge, but that's just my gut speaking...

The idea of two in the same challenge appeals more to me. I think I'd rather be trying out two totally different ideas than two aspects of the same thing, but that should be on option open to the entrants. It may just work out that people (including me) have two versions of the same thing that they'd like to put in.

I was expecting a response exactly like what Bear said. I, too would like the idea of two entries in one contest. But without any modification to the website's programming, that's not gonna happen. And we all know how much time it takes for any site updates.
So without any modifications to the website's programming, it's our best option. It does rely on luck of the draw, which wouldn't be a first time. My first ribbon happened because i decided to enter a female portrait while gyaban, et al, decided to enter a male portrait. Lucky draw :) |

Excellent idea, I struggle all the time to decide which photo to enter into a challenge, twice the choice is great by me. |
