i have a canon a 70 and i dont understand the compression settings at all. there seems to be no difference except filesize. can anyone explain this to me? i always use super fine but am unsure.

More compression means less data, or information, is saved. Less data means a lower quality image. The difference will be most apparent when making large size prints and will show up the least when viewing your images on your computer. To get the best possible images out of your camera use the setting that produces the largest image files.
