I am so pissed off and fed up I am about to throw this frickin piece of crap aka PC out the frickin window. Trust me I would sooner sever a limb than even think of tossing a Mac out the window.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the computer, or the modem, or my connection. I have run several diagnostics on all of the above and all come up clean. Ditto says local computer geek. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the ISP software to no avail.

Up until very recently, about 3 weeks ago, I was able to read and send emails, post pics in my mailbox, email proofs to clients. But now I can barely log on for 5 minutes before being told that 'Internet Explorer cannot display that page'. Sure sucks balls, esp when I want to see pix sent to me, and have clients to whom I would like to send proofs before sending the images off for printing. Those are only a teeny-tiny 150k, 400 pixels on the long side max, and I can't upload them to my hotmail account, let alone upload them to my workshop here on dpc. I have to use a frickin PAINT computer to upload challenge images. That should not be.

Don't even mention frickin Silverlight to me, either. I installed that stupid program a half-dozen times and guess what, each time I go to use it, what appear? That asinine message that I only need to install Silverlight *once* and oh gee whiz, it's FREE too!!!!

So frickin WTF is going on?! Every time I try to see a different page I get that big blank screen and stupid message saying that 'Internet Explorer cannot find that page', and to check connections.

There is a reason why I have 2 separate computers. I have my highly valued Mac for the important stuff, ie photo storage and PS CS5. This crapadelic hunk of s**t is used ONLY for the Internet. Gawd ferbid all the crap that goes wrong with the PC, were ever to go wrong and take out recent images that I haven't yet Lacie'd up tight.

Any help would be TREMENDOUSLY appreciated.

*rant over*

I hate Explorer too. Use Firefox or Chrome. Both are great and work with every site out there.

What version of Internet Exploiter are you using?

although i've heard "better" things about ie9, i personally wouldn't even bother trying since i switched to chrome. much faster and rarely crashes (java is another story)

I don't use IE either -- switched to Firefox (free!) years ago. But your problem sounds to me like bad ISP service. I used to get that frequently when I used Comcast cable. Our public library has the same issues with Comcast.

I use Firefox. I hate IE and avoid it whenever possible.

Do you have the same issues using chrome or Firefox?

IE is... not good.

Install firefox or chrome and use them for a few days. If the problem persists, then it's not the browser.

Likewise to what other folks have said... I keep IE only for those services that are horribly behind in the times (access to work e-mails and potentially online classes).
This doesn't quite sound like a browser issue, however.

IE? What's that? Oh...right, that crappy browser we have to use at work
At home I use FF on my Windows machine and Safari on my Apple.
