Hi All,
I am new to photography. I started it as a hobby but i think i am getting more in to it.
I am planning to buy a new camera ( right now i have sony A390), i still don't want to invest more (around 800$ - 1000$). So are there any suggestions?
I know it's a tough one as everyone has its own fav, but i would really appreciate your input.

Thanks
Shalabh

Hello ,As you say everyone will have a different view on this matter ,not sure on prices as I am in the UK but I imagine the Canon 50d or 60d would be near to your price range.
Best wait for someone with more talk than me but thats my little offering. I love my Canon 7d by the way.

What is it about the A390 you now have that is falling short of your expectations? That answer could lead you to what you want.

If you are around a city, go to one of the larger camera stores and hold in your hands the ones that you narrow your search down to. There will be one or two that will meet your needs, and that just feel "right" for you. It's important that the camera is comfortable for you to hold and to operate.
Personally, I like my Nikon because it can use almost any of the Nikon F mount SLR lenses made over the last 45 years with no extra adapters.
I hope you find one that will serve you well for the price range that you are able to afford.

personal experience, 60D is amazing. You could settle for cheaper and get a Rebel T2i or T3i, well settle is a bad term, they are perfectly capable cameras and fact the IQ on the new rebels is identical to the 60D, but if you are serious about photography, you may find yourself long for a larger body and more or a pro-style control layout and features over what the rebel line may offer. i had upgraded from a rebel so i understand the shortcomings.

simply put a rebel will do you just fine, but if you go for the 60D (or even a used 50D) you will find that it will satisfy your needs for quite sometime, and you can put your focus on better glass.

now someone else can chime in on the nikons, but i suspect the same logic will apply with their entry level and prosumer level cameras.

Hi All,
Thanks for all the valuable suggestions.
I really want to buy a Canon (like 7d) but its going beyond my budget and also i am bit concern about all the lenses i already have (they all are for Sony).
I also liked sony A850 but again its expensive. Have anyone used Sony A55 ? its under my range and i can also use my lenses.

Thanks
Shalabh
